Mold Design and Manufacturing

Various molds and tools used in industrial production such as injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, die-casting, forging, melting, stamping, stretching, and other methods are used to obtain the desired products.

In short, a mold is a tool used to form objects, and different molds are composed of different parts, where the physical shape of a material is altered. This is known as the "mother of all industries".

Under immense, external force, raw materials such as iron, steel, and other alloys are created to specific shapes and sizes to form tools. Different methods serve a variety of purposes such as punching, die forging, cold heading, extrusion, powder metallurgy parts compression, pressure casting. Engineering plastics, rubber, ceramics, and other product compression molding or injection molding processing are also common. Molds have specific contours or cavity shapes, and its use of cutting edges allow blanks to be separated (punched) according to the contour shape. Applying the shape of the inner cavity allows the blank to form a three-dimensional shape. The mold generally includes a movable or a fixed mold with two parts that can be divided and combined. When separated, the parts are removed, and when closed, the blank is injected into the mold cavity to form an object. Molds are high precision tools, complex in shape, can withstand the expansion force of a blank, and have strict requirements for structural strength, stiffness, surface hardness, surface roughness, and processing accuracy. The development of molds is one of the most important aspects of manufacturing and machinery.
